These top ten cities represent the urban populations that, among other things, buy the most humanely produced products, elect the most animal-advocacy minded politicians and adopt the most animals from shelters. These cities also have the most vegetarian restaurants per capita, the fewest big top circus performances and the fewest number of pet stores selling puppies.
