Dog Night at The Pumpkin Patch

We started celebrating Halloween 2008 a little early this year. Our local pumpkin patch had a really fun dog night. Edie had a blast!! She wore her pumpkin costume. There were other dogs to play with, a trainer to give advice, a pet psychic and even the pupperazzi who took this cute picture. Everyone got a doggie goody bag on the way out.

Here's Edie playing with another dog who was a workman with his toolbelt.

Here's a little video Edie's reading with the pyschic, or animal communicator, as she preferred to be called.

Is Your Pet Ready For Halloween?

It's almost that time of year again! This is Halloween #2 for me and Edie. How time flies. Remember this post and this post from last year?

Little Edie has a couple of really cute costumes lined up. Stay tuned for pics and all the details. We have some fun stuff and events planned for this year including our pumpkin carving night while we watch the classic "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" plus a fun night out with all the dogs at the local pumpkin patch.

Do you have your pets costume picked out? If not, here's some links to places where you can buy some great costumes.

The girls had so much fun together. Edie loves her cousins Percy and Agnes. On our last day there I captured these shots of all the girls after their morning playtime......ahhhhhh.....the life........

Little Edie's First Fourth of July...

Little Edie and I were invited to spend the evening of the fourth at Polly's parents' house. Off we went with Percy and Agnes in tow. Polly's parents have two Westies, Harry and Claudette. Lisa was also there with her sweet lab mix, Coco. So.....did you do the math? That's SIX dogs!! All females except for Harry. And all little dogs except for Coco. Edie was trying to play with Coco all night. Harry and Claudette just followed Edie around (I think Harry is in love). Agnes just ran around the whole night getting her fun on where she could and Percy.....perched on her pillow watching it all from afar.....

Here's a little video of the fun....complete with fireworks!

Happy Presidents Day!!

In Honor of Presdients day here is a list of the top 5 Presidential Pets!

#5 Him and Her (Lyndon Johnson 1963-1969)

Him and Her were brother and sister Beagles born on June 27, 1963. Johnson often played with the two on the White House lawn. Two of Him’s puppies, Freckles and Kim, were kept by Johnson’s daughter Luci. During his presidency, Johnson also had three other dogs, J. Edgar, Blanco and Yuki.

#4 Rex (Ronald Reagan 1981-1989)

Rex was a Cavalier King Charles spaniel owned by Nancy and Ronald Reagan. The former President gave Rex to the First Lady as a Christmas present in 1985. Rex is thought to be named for Rex Scouten, a former White House chief usher. Rex lived to age 13.

#3 Socks (Bill Clinton 1993-2001)

Socks moved into the White House with the Clintons in 1993. He was the first cat to live in the White House since Amy Carter's cat, Misty Malarky Ying Yang. When the Clintons left the White House in 2001 Socks was left under the care of Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie.

#2 Millie (George Bush 1989-1993)

Mildred Kerr Bush, or Millie, was a Springer spaniel owned by the Bush family. She was named after the Bush’s longtime friend Mildred Caldwell Kerr. In 1997 Millie died of pneumonia at age 12.

#1 Checkers (Richard Nixon 1969-1974)

Checkers was an American cocker spaniel born in 1951. Checkers was given to the Nixon family by a Texas supporter after he read that Nixon’s daughters wanted a dog. The dog is buried at Long Island's Bide-a-Wee Pet Cemetery.

Little Edie's First Christmas....

Little Edie had such a fun day yesterday. She got plenty of new toys, treats and food. This was also her first sleep over away from her own house. She did really well and slept the whole night in her crate. No accidents in Grandma and Grandpa's house either. I was very proud of her.

There is a great dog park by my parents house. They have two flat, fenced off parks. One for big dogs and one for small dogs. Before our Christmas brunch we took Edie over to the park and let her loose! Wow! She's never had an experience like that before!

Whenever a new dog would come in all of the dogs would run over to sniff, assess and greet. Here is Little Edie in her Christmas sweater passing her initiation period into the small dog park. There is a video at the end of her and some of the dogs playing. She had a blast!

She also got to eat some yummy ham and some bites of lasagna with us. Needless to say after all of that excitement and food, she totally passed out with her face buried into Grandmas lap!

Hot Bitch of The Week!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!!

Set your TIVO!! Tuesday, December 4, 8pm et/pt. Let the reindeer games begin with RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, the longest-running holiday special in television history. This classic has entertained millions of families since 1964, with the world-renowned musical score from Johnny Marks and the voice talent of legendary performer Burl Ives (Sam the Snowman). RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER recounts the tale of a shy, young reindeer whose Christmas spirit is dampened because his shiny red nose has made him the laughing stock of all Christmastown.

Frustrated by their inability to fit in, Rudolph and his friend Hermey, the Elf who wants to be a dentist, set out on their own. However, they soon find themselves pursued by the Abominable Snowmonster. They flee to the island of Misfit Toys in the Arctic wilderness where Yukon Cornelius, a prospector they meet along the way, comes to their rescue. Returning to Christmastown, they learn that bad weather may cause Christmas to be canceled. But Rudolph's headlight--his illuminated nose--saves Christmas by serving as a beacon to guide Santa's sleigh.

I'll make sure to have a box of tissues handy.......this one always makes me cry......

Tree Trimming Party

Every year Polly and Duane have their annual tree trimming party. Edie doesn't have her holiday outfit yet so off we went in her quilted patent leather coat with white fur trim. She wore a blue bell ornament on her collar for extra holiday spirit. And boy....did she have a BALL!!

Here's a blurry picture of the tree early on......hardly any ornaments yet....

I love this koi ornament......it ROCKS!!

Here's Percy perched on her pillow praying that Little Edie will just leave her alone....

Agnes gave lap dances to everyone complete with free tongue bath.....

And here's the total ham of the night.....Little Edie. She pee'd, she pooped, she tried to eat everyone's food, she stole Agnes' toys, she harassed Percy but she sure does make one heck of a cute ornament doesn't she??

I don't have a picture of the finished tree to show you. My bad. Partly because the battery was low and partly because all the ones I took came out really blurry. Too much champagne makes for not-so-good-at-operating-camera...... I'll be sure to take one soon tho. You must see this tree done. "It is the best tree ever" according to Duane. I totally agree...... These two definitely know their way around a Christmas tree.
