Hot Bitch of The Week!

Meet Cindy the amazing performing pooch, who can balance almost anything on her tiny paws and nose. The eight-year-old pedigree Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the queen of doggy-balancing because she can hold beer mats, CDs and even yogurt cups perfectly still on her two front paws and nose.

The remarkable little spaniel is the pride and joy of retired electro-plater Ron Bucknall and his wife Irene. Mr Bucknall, who bought Cindy as a puppy, said she is truly one of a kind. "I've had dogs all my life but I've never come across one like this before. "I can do tricks with this dog that you'd have to go through another 1,000 dogs to find."

Cindy rolls onto her back and plays dead at her owner's command, and enters a "trance-like state" when performing her balancing feats. Ron, 75, said: "At first she wags her tail, then I put just a piece of biscuit in her mouth and she freezes. "Honestly, not a hair on her body moves."

His son Matt added: "Dogs are notoriously fidgety, so the way she can sit absolutely still to balance things on her head is absolutely incredible. "She really is amazingly bright and doesn't forget anything."

She is not in the best of health with a weak heart and arthritis. Her legs are strengthened with steel implants.

Uno, The Beagle

History was made last Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. For the first time ever a Beagle took home the coveted prize of Westminster’s Best in Show 2008.

Fifteen inch Beagle "Uno," bested 2,627 competitors and lived up to his name to become the number one dog in America. Judge J. Donald Jones pointed to the three-year-old Beagle and officially brought the breed out of the Best in Show doghouse.

Uno became an early crowd favorite at this year’s competition. In the ring he wagged his tail and bayed and barked, demanding attention from the judges. He had the sold out crowd on their feet and chanting his name as he was crowned Best in Show.

Although the Beagle has been one of America’s most popular breeds for over a hundred years, their merry demeanor and laid back attitude have not translated to wins in the ring, until now. Already the first Beagle to win the hound group since 1939, the cheerful Uno beat out six other Best in Group winners Tuesday night: a toy and standard poodle, a Sealyham terrier, a Weimaraner, an Australian shepherd and an Akita.

Droopy the Dog

Droopy is an animated cartoon character, an anthropomorphic dog (a basset hound), created by Tex Avery for theatrical cartoon shorts produced by the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio in 1943. Essentially the polar opposite of Avery's other famous MGM character, the loud and wacky Screwy Squirrel, Droopy moved slowly and lethargically, spoke in a jowly monotone, and, though he didn't look like much, was shrewd enough to outwit his enemies.

The character first appeared, nameless, in Avery's 1943 cartoon Dumb-hounded. Though he would not be called "Droopy" onscreen until his fifth cartoon, Señor Droopy (1949), the character was officially first labeled Happy Hound, a name used in the character's appearances in Our Gang Comics. After the demise of the Droopy series in 1958, the character has been revived several times for new productions, often television shows also featuring MGM's other famous cartoon stars, Tom and Jerry.

Toto

THE WIZARD OF OZ was written by L. Frank Baum and published in 1900. One of the book's starring characters is a little dog named Toto, the pet of a Kansas farm girl named Dorothy. Toto's breed is never specified in the book, but the illustrator, W.W.Denslow, drew a dog that looks a lot like a Cairn Terrier. When casting began for the famous movie production, the casting department had the most trouble casting the part of Toto, because of the confusion about his breed.

Toto was played by a dog named Terry, who was in fact a female dog although she is referred to as "he" throughout the movie. Terry was acquired by animal trainer Carl Spitz, more than three years before filming began. Terry was a very shy dog, but soon warmed up and became comfortable working in front of the camera. Spitz received $125 per week for Terry's work.

Knute the Polar Bear

Polar bears are an endangered species; due to global warming, their natural habitat is slowly disappearing. When an adorable polar bear cub was born at the Berlin Zoo in December, 2006 and rejected by its mother, the zoo keeper named him Knute and began to raise the tiny cub. When some animal rights activists learned of Knute's existence, they recommended that he be put to death. Their reasoning is that his rejection by his mother is part of the natural process; in the wild he would have been left to die, not raised by a kindhearted zoo keeper. Others argued that his rejection stems from the fact that a large mammal, such as his mother, should not be kept in captivity. Still others argued that, because their habitat is disappearing, zoos are the only safe places for polar bears. Knute was not killed and he continues to enthrall and captivate visitors to the zoo and his many fans around the world.

Macaroni the Pony

John F. Kennedy's family loved animals and their White House was full of them. Jacqueline Kennedy designed a special play area for her children, Caroline and John, by the West Wing, which included housing for their animals. Caroline Kennedy was given a pony by then-Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Caroline named her pony Macaroni and Macaroni received letters from children all over the world. During the winter, when snow fell, Macaroni often pulled Caroline and John all over the White House grounds in a sled.

Morris the Cat

Morris, the spoiled and pampered spokescat for 9Lives brand cat food, is a commercial legend. Morris was originally played by a cat named Lucky, who deserved his name because he was adopted from the Hinsdale, Illinois Humane Society in 1968 by Bob Martwick, a professional animal trainer, shortly before the cat was scheduled to be put down. Lucky reigned from 1969 until his death in 1975, when he was replaced by Harry the Cat. All cats that play Morris must be rescues, whether they come from an animal shelter or a cat rescue.

In 2006, Morris was shown adopting a kitten from a Los Angeles shelter. This kitten, L'il Mo, was to be the first in his campaign, Morris's Million Cat Rescue.

Morris has been the subject of a book, MORRIS: THE INTIMATE BIOGRAPHY by Mary Daniels (1974) and he has also written three books: THE MORRIS APPROACH, THE MORRIS METHOD, and THE MORRIS PRESCRIPTION. In addition to advertising 9Lives cat food, Morris appears as a spokescat to promote responsible pet adoption, ownership, and animal health. Morris also appeared in the 1973 movie"Shamus," which also starred Burt Reynolds and Dyan Cannon. Morris is voiced by John Irwin, or "He-Men and the Masters of the Universe."

In recent history, a cat was noticed at a Los Angeles shelter. The cat was later adopted and named Sir Gregory. When it was decided that Sir Gregory was the best cat to play Morris, the woman who adopted him was approached. She was willing for her new cat to play Morris, until she realized that meant she would have to give him up! She declined and another cat was eventually found.

Tiger, The Brady Bunch Dog

When Carol and Mike blended their families to create the Brady Bunch, the boys contributions included a dog named Tiger. First broadcast on September 26, 1969, The Brady Bunch ran for five years.

Tiger appeared in many early episodes of the show. Tiger was played by a dog named Tiger in real life. Unfortunately, the dog was run over by a car and died of his injuries before the 4th episode. Producers were able to find a look-alike replacement, but that dog didn't last too long. He was let go because of his alleged unpredictability. Producers tried but couldn't find another, appropriate dog so Tiger was written out of the show. In season one, episode 18, Bobby is heartbroken because Tiger has run away from home.

Ok, now I'm depressed. I never knew that about poor Tiger. I cried right there along with Bobby when Tiger ran away.....

The Taco Bell Chihuahua

Taco Bell's successful ad campaign launched in September of 1997. Played by Gidget, a Chihuahua born two years earlier, the spokesdog is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui. Mr. Alazraqui's voice can also be heard in television shows such as "The Fairly Odd Parents," "Rocko's Modern Life," "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Futurama," and "Reno 911!"

Speaking with the aid of CGI, the dog's slogan "Yo queiro Taco Bell" has become part of our lexicon, as has "Drop the chalupa!" Toy figures of the tiny dog were produced and in 2002, Gidget made a cameo appearance in a Geico commercial featuring their spokesgecko!

Some Hispanics decried Gidget's campaign, calling it stereotypical. Taco Bell denied this, but stopped running the ads in 2000 for another campaign.

El Conquistador, The Baby Ocelot

An endangered Brazilian ocelot kitten was born at the Louisville Zoo Sept. 23. This was the first offspring for mom Miguela and second for father Itirapua.

The birth is very significant and important for the species. There are only 26 Brazilian ocelots in American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) institutions nationwide. The birth is also notable because of the passing on of Itirapua’s vital founder stock genetic diversity.

When Itirapua’s mother, who lived in the wild, was hit by a car, she was taken to a local animal hospital where Itirapua was born. He was named after that local Brazilian town—Itirapua. He is known as Itty for short.

“There are only seven Brazilian ocelots considered founder stock in AZA institutions,” said Louisville Zoo Assistant Animal Curator Candy McMahan. “So Itty’s genes are critical for the species.”

El Conquistador garnered his name when at 2 days old he wandered from his mother’s side and squeezed through fencing into a hallway for keeper staff on the back side of the exhibit. “And he did all this when he was unable to see,” McMahan laughed. “He was so young, his eyes were still closed. So, we named him El Conquistador because he is definitely an explorer and conqueror.”

Ocelots are a new species to the Louisville Zoo, just arriving earlier this summer. “Itty arrived with a reputation for being an aggressive male and not able to be introduced to a female,” McMahan said. “But our staff worked hard to get the pair trained and acquainted.” The first time the pair was together, they bred.

“I am very proud of our staff here at the Zoo,” McMahan said. “They are dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable in working with cats and do an amazing job working with Itty and Miguela. We are thrilled with El Conquistador and couldn't’t be happier. His genetic makeup is very important to the Brazilian ocelot species.”

McMahan said. “The current SSP [Species Survival Plan] goal is for the Brazilian ocelot population to top100 animals and that starts with successful births like El Conquistador.” As with all babies, El Conquistador’s schedule varies and can be unpredictable. There currently are no set exhibit times to see mom Miguela and baby El Conquistador.

Brazilian ocelots, a subspecies of ocelots (there are eight), are native to Brazil and about three times the size of a housecat. They are one of the smallest felines found in the tropical rainforest.

Pepé Le Pew

Pepé Le Pew has all the qualities of a great lover. He is a born romantic. His enthusiasm knows no bounds. His ego is as big as the Eiffel Tower. He showers les femmes with flowery come-ons, champagne, and gifts. He purrs. He coos. He cajoles... All in that entrancing French accent.

But like all great heroes, he has a flaw: his natural, er, "perfume." That skunk stench has been known to make flowers wilt as he walks by. Buildings clear out the moment the amorous Pepé enters. Marble statues—which have survived hundreds of years of rain and wind—melt in his presence.

But worst of all, that stench makes the ladies run away from Pepé in horror. Love may be blind, but its ability to smell is A-OK. But luckily for our olfactory-challenged lover, he has one other abiding quality, perhaps his best: He won't take no for an answer.

Sylvester The Cat

Sylvester J. Pussycat Senior is an animated cat who appears in several Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons, often chasing Tweety Bird, Speedy Gonzales, or Hippety Hopper. The name "Sylvester" is a play on silvestris, the scientific name for the cat species. The character's prototype appeared in Bob Clampett's 1941 cartoon The Hep Cat who had no name, but resembled Sylvester (although without the lisp). The character got his permanent look in the 1945 short film Life With Feathers. In the 1947 cartoon Tweetie Pie (which was the both the first pairing of Tweety with Sylvester as well as the first Warner Bros. cartoon to win an Academy Award), Sylvester was called Thomas.

Sylvester's trademark was his sloppy, stridulating lisp (which, like Daffy Duck's, was based on producer Leon Schlesinger's). His sloppy voice was provided by voice acting legend Mel Blanc. Blanc reveals in his autobiography that Sylvester's voice and Daffy's were identical, but Daffy's was sped up in post-production. Sylvester's trademark exclamation is "Sufferin' succotash!", which is a minced oath/euphemism of "Suffering Savior".

Sylvester is an adorable tuxedo cat who shows much pride in himself, and never gives up. Despite (or perhaps because of) his pride and persistence, Sylvester was definitely on the "loser" side of the Looney Tunes winner/loser hierarchy. His character was basically that of Wile E. Coyote while he was chasing mice or birds. He shows a different character when paired with Porky Pig in explorations of spooky places, in which he doesn't speak as a scaredy cat. (In these cartoons, he basically plays the terrified Costello to Porky's oblivious Abbott). Sylvester's most developed role is as hapless mouse-catching instructor to his dubious son, Sylvester Junior, in which the "mouse" is a powerful baby kangaroo. His alternately confident and bewildered episodes bring his son to shame, while Sylvester himself is reduced to nervous breakdowns.

Arnold Ziffel

Arnold was the pig on Green Acres. He was the family pet of Fred and Doris Ziffel, farmers living in the small town of Hooterville. They considered this talented pig the son they never had. Arnold could play the piano, drink lime soda from a straw, deliver letters from the mail box, turn the channels on the television (he loved to watch THE CBS EVENING NEWS with Walter Cronkite), predict weather with his curly tail, and play cricket with his own miniature cricket bat. He often interacted with Oliver Wendell Douglas and his eloquent wife, Lisa two city slickers who moved to the country and bought the old Haney place.

The Original Benji

Benji is the only canine actor to ever appear as a centerfold in Playgirl Magazine. When asked if such an appearance isn't a break from his usual family-friendly philosophy, Benji creator Joe Camp says, "The way we looked at it was that in addition to being ridiculously funny, Benji's centerfold meant one less naked man on the magazine racks... because, you see, the dog playing Benji at that time was actually a girl." Would he do it again? "No."
